People go to a nightspot for various reasons. Some go for escape, some for celebration, and some go for business. Here we see an example of all three. Three women have converged by chance at a yuppie hang-out called “Ruby Wednesdays” on a Thursday night, ladies night. The lady on the left has already had far too many drinks, the one in the middle has just finished her first, and the one on the right has no intention of drinking at all. She wants a clear head for a crucial decision. Her name is Britt and she is here for escape from her quandary. She is contemplating two proposals, one from a prosperous proctologist named Hal Tosus and the other from a minimum wage employee of Ace Hardware named Gus Focher. Her perplexity arises from the fact she truly loves the affable Gus. Will she choose financial security or real affection? The middle girl is Juanita, and she is celebrating a very lucrative real estate deal she has just closed. Her hefty commission means she finally has saved enough money to move her aged parents from a low income house in Oxaca, Mexico to a nice suburb outside of L.A. The girl on the left is Erin. A harsh catholic upbringing produced a rebellious reaction by instilling a wanton, promiscuous nature. She has maintained a successful “escort” service for an affluent clientele for 10 years. She came here with every intention of changing her occupation. Now a drink has just been ordered for her from across the room. Will she take one more opportunity?”
